1.   Why is it important to eat healthy foods?

  • To provide the necessary nutrients that your body needs to create new cells, clean toxins, and to just function every day!
  • Eating right now can help prevent future diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
  • You will have more energy and be more alert.

2.  Do you need to change your eating habits after looking at information? 

I should change my diet slightly by replacing my usual snacks between meals e.g. chips, chocolate, shapes etc with healthy snacks e.g. fruit, muesli bars   etc

Tuesday’s healthy menu

  1. Breakfast= two weet-bix with a bowl of milk
  2. Morning tea= piece of fruit with a muesli bar with nuts
  3. Lunch= salad sandwich with wholemeal bread and skinless chicken
  4. Afternoon tea= piece of fruit with sesames seed bar
  5. Dinner= lean piece of meat grilled with steamed vegetables

Dietary Guidelines for Australian Adults,Dietary Guidelines for Children and Adolescents in Australia (incorporating the Infant Feeding Guidelines for Health Workers), and Dietary Guidelines for Older Australians

 

 

3. Why are these guidelines important?

These guidelines are designed for different population groups but all have a clear emphasis on enjoying a wide variety of nutritious foods and actively promote the increased consumption of breads, cereals, legumes, vegetables and fruits. They also recommend that Australians ‘consume only moderate amounts of sugars and foods containing added sugars’ and ‘choose foods low in salt’. These guidelines are designed to make it easier for everyone to understand how to eat a healthy diet to improve quality of life and reduce illness.

 

4. Finally looking at your own diet-Do you meet these guidelines?

Yes, my diet does meet these guidelines because I eat foods in moderation, I do eat healthy foods such as fruit, nuts etc
